Discover the Past. Experience the Stories. Inspire the Future.
I’m Historian Smith McNeill, founder of Echoes of Freedom. With a B.S. in History from Appalachian State University and a Certificate in Applied Public History from the University of London, I created this project to make history more than just words on a page—it’s a living story meant to be seen, felt, and remembered.
Echoes of Freedom is a history-driven project dedicated to bringing America’s story to life through powerful storytelling, on-site exploration, and multimedia experiences. From Revolutionary War battlefields to Civil Rights landmarks, our mission is simple: to make history accessible, engaging, and unforgettable for every generation.
Through video episodes, educational resources, and community outreach, Echoes of Freedom connects audiences to the places, voices, and events that shaped our nation. Each episode takes you beyond the textbook—immersing you in the landscapes where history happened and uncovering the stories of courage, struggle, and triumph that still echo today.
Film on Location – Capturing history where it happened with authentic visuals and narratives.
Educational Storytelling – Episodes and resources designed for students, educators, and history enthusiasts.
Community Engagement – Partnering with schools, historic sites, and local organizations to keep history alive.
History is not just about the past—it’s about the lessons we carry into the future. Echoes of Freedom seeks to inspire curiosity, honor sacrifice, and spark meaningful conversations that connect people to their shared heritage.
Join me as we follow the echoes of freedom across battlefields, landmarks, and forgotten places—because America’s story is still being written, and it begins with knowing where we’ve been.
